What We Believe

The Bible

We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God, and is the sole written authority for what we believe and how we live. The Scriptures are sufficient, clear, and completely trustworthy in all they affirm.

God

We believe in one God who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is holy, sovereign, all-powerful, all-knowing, and perfectly good, and He created all things for His glory.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will come again in glory.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit glorifies Christ, convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and regenerates, indwells, and empowers all true believers. He gives spiritual gifts to the church and produces holiness and Christlikeness in the lives of God’s people.

Humanity and Sin

We believe all people are created in the image of God and therefore possess great dignity and worth. Through Adam’s sin, humanity fell and became sinful by nature and by choice, separated from God and deserving of His just judgment. Apart from God’s grace, we are unable to save ourselves.

Salvation

We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Through repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, sinners are forgiven, justified, reconciled to God, and made new creations by the Holy Spirit. This salvation is secured entirely by Christ’s finished work and not by human effort or merit.

The Church

We believe the universal church is made up of all true believers in Jesus Christ from every nation. A local church is a gathered body of baptized believers who covenant together to worship God, proclaim the gospel, make disciples, observe the ordinances, exercise loving discipline, and live on mission in the world.

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

We believe baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, symbolizing our union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection and our public profession of faith. We believe the Lord’s Supper is a memorial ordinance in which believers remember Christ’s sacrifice, proclaim His death until He comes, and renew their commitment to Him and to one another.

Christian Living

We believe all believers are called to a life of holiness, obedience, love, and good works, not to earn salvation but as the fruit of salvation. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, Christians are to grow in Christlikeness, pursue unity in the body, and live as witnesses for Christ in every area of life.

Marriage, Family, and Human Sexuality

We believe God created marriage as the lifelong covenant union of one man and one woman for His glory and for our good. We believe God created humanity as male and female, both equal in dignity and value but distinct in role, and that all sexual activity outside the covenant of biblical marriage is contrary to God’s design.

Last Things

We believe Jesus Christ will personally, visibly, and gloriously return to judge the living and the dead and to consummate His eternal kingdom. God will raise the dead, the unrepentant will face eternal conscious separation from God in hell, and the redeemed will enjoy eternal life in the presence of God in a new heaven and new earth.

Religious Liberty

We believe God alone is Lord of the conscience, and that every person is accountable to Him in matters of faith. The state has no right to impose a confession of faith, and the church must remain free to obey Christ in all things according to the Scriptures.
