What is Salvation?

What you need to know.

🌿 The Simple Plan of Salvation

1. Recognize Your Need for Salvation

All people are sinners and separated from God because of sin.

Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Romans 6:23a – “For the wages of sin is death…”

Our sin brings spiritual death—separation from God—but God loves us and offers hope.

2. Understand That Salvation Is a Free Gift

You cannot earn salvation by good works, religion, or personal merit. It is a gift of God’s grace.

Romans 6:23b – “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Ephesians 2:8–9 – “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”

3. Believe That Jesus Died and Rose Again for You

Jesus Christ, God’s Son, paid the penalty for your sin by dying on the cross and rising again.

Romans 5:8 – “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
1 Corinthians 15:3–4 – “…that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day…”

4. Repent and Place Your Faith in Christ Alone

To be saved, you must turn from sin and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Acts 3:19 – “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.”
Romans 10:9–10 – “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

5. Call Upon the Lord for Salvation

God promises that all who sincerely call on Him in faith will be saved.

Romans 10:13 – “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

6. Receive the Assurance of Salvation

When you trust Christ, you are forgiven, made new, and sealed by the Holy Spirit forever.

John 1:12 – “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.”
1 John 5:13 – “These things have I written unto you…that ye may know that ye have eternal life.”

✝️ A Simple Prayer (If You Desire to Receive Christ)

“Dear God, I know I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sin and place my faith in Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Please forgive me, come into my life, and make me Your child. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

💬 Summary

  1. Salvation is by grace alone,

  2. through faith alone,

  3. in Christ alone.

It is God’s free gift, not something earned or deserved. Once a person truly trusts in Jesus, they are eternally secure in Him — a core conviction in Southern Baptist theology.
