There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

Genesis 6:4

The Nephilim are described as people of extraordinary physical stature, with the term often translated as “giants” or “heroes”. The only biblical references are in Genesis 6:4 and Numbers 13:33, where the Israelite spies described them as incredibly tall[2]. Interestingly, biblical references suggest the Nephilim existed after the Flood, challenging traditional interpretations of Genesis 6:4. Heiser notes the complex linguistic and mythological connections, pointing out that Hebrew terms for giants were often translated using Greek mythological terms like “Titan”, and Second Temple Jews connected these stories to Babylonian contexts. In Deuteronomy, multiple giant groups are mentioned in Canaan, such as the Emim, Anakim, Rephaim, and Zamzummim, who were described as great, numerous, and tall peoples that were ultimately destroyed
